Suffering with back pain began in 1993 in the lower regions of my back with severe muscle spasms. the pain continued to intensify and began to move down through my hp, leg and to the ankle. There was a tingling and numbness in my leg for the next several years.
Finally, in 1999, it had come to the point that I could not take the pain any longer. At this time I asked my regular physician to refer me to a neurosurgeon. After having an MRI and a reading by the doctor, he determined that I had two discs that were herniated. His decision was to try medication first to see if that would help. After several weeks of taking medicine, there was little relief. It was decided then that I would have surgery. After returning home I did begin to feel a lot better, but as soon as I resumed normal job requirements, the pain began to come back. This time the pain returned with more intensity at times, and it was there on a daily basis.
It was impossible to have a normal life enjoying activities such as walking, standing and even riding while enduring this high level of pain. A simple trip to the mall with my family was not enjoyable for me or them, because I could not walk long before having to find a place to sit down. Going to a restaurant with family or friend was not pleasant, because I could no sit pain free for more than thirty minutes to enjoy the meal.
In April of 2002, we had a long-time friend visiting our home. This person was familiar with my problem and had a similar one herself. She convinced me to call Atlas Chiropractic & Wellness Center to set up an appointment with Dr. John Boccella. She was very persistent about how much better I would feel if I gave this doctor a chance.
I had my first appointment with Dr. Boccella in May, 2002, and to my surprise I could actually feel a difference in the pain level after this first visit. With each appointment, my wife and I could see a real change in the way I felt. my posture began to improve, and I was able to do the things that I enjoyed again. As of today, I would say that I am at least ninety percent better than I was before I came to Atlas Chiropractic.
In closing, I would urge anyone that reads this, or if you know anyone who has any problems of this nature, to try Atlas Chiropractic & Wellness Center. Dr. Boccella and his staff are truly professionals, genuinely showing that the patient is the most important part of their practice. I am thankful to have heeded the recommendation of a caring friend.
