Atlas Orthogonality Technique
The uniqueness of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique (AOT) comes from the analysis and correction of the misaligned upper cervical vertebrae that are stressing or interfering with the nervous system. The AOT begins by correcting the top of the spine, allowing this correction to cascade down towards the lower spine and body.
The analysis, diagnosis and adjusting of the subluxated vertebrae is an extremely specific task. After a detailed chiropractic examination and x-rays, the upper cervical misalignment is measured on these x-rays. This provides the doctor precise corrective angles, or vectors, to program into the Atlas Orthogonal percussion adjusting instrument for your Atlas adjustment. In addition to the effectiveness of this procedure, it is also one of the most gentle techniques available to chiropractors. An Atlas Orthogonal adjustment is the most powerful and precise adjustment a person can ever receive.
Once the upper cervical subluxation is corrected, the muscle spasm, inflammation, pressure and nerve interference is immediately reduced. The body will generally respond quickly. As you maintain this alignment and body balance over time, your body will return to a state of optimal health. This is essential for the body to be healthy. Each person will respond at their own level and pace..
This restoration of the body's alignment and balance through expertly applied, painless hand adjustments to the upper cervical spine was first performed in the mid 1900's by Dr. John F. Grostic. After Dr. Grostic passed away in 1964, his life work was further developed and taught by my teacher and mentor, Dr. Roy W. Sweat. Dr. Sweat is credited for continued upper cervical research and development, as well as designing the Atlas Orthogonal percussion adjusting instrument and the AO x-ray frame and positioning chair.
The Atlas Orthogonal percussion adjusting instrument allows the trained doctor of chiropractic to perform the gentle upper cervical/atlas adjustment with precision and reproducibility. This adjustment works from the top of your spine down to your feet.
