Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique

Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) is based on the foundation principle. In other words, this technique utilizes an analysis that begins by looking at the feet and lower extremity and working upward to the skull. Neuromuscular reflex tests are used to examine specific areas of the spine, as well as the joints of the extremities.

This procedure is also very gentle because the adjustments are delivered using a handheld instrument called an Activator.

The examination begins with the patient lying prone (face down) on a comfortable adjusting table. The doctor will ask the patient to move their legs, arms or head to illicit a neuromuscular response which will help the doctor to determine if that area needs to be aligned. As these various tests reveal positive findings, the appropriate adjustments will be performed using the Activator instrument.

The Activator instrument is a calibrated, spring loaded instrument that uses a consistent low force, high speed thrust to restore proper joint alignment. This adjustment is very gentle and painless.

The Activator instrument can be used to restore joint function and alignment to all spinal vertebrae, temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ), shoulder joints, elbows and wrists, hips, knees and feet on patients of all ages.
